Students Visited Newly Arrived Ambassador
Cambodian students in Canberra visited the ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Koy Kuong, on 4 July 2015. H.E. Koy Kuong, former spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, assumed his ambassadorship, representing the Kingdom of Cambodia in Australia and New Zealand, in June 2015.
During the visit, in his welcoming speech, H.E. Koy Kuong expressed his commitment to further the interests of Cambodian students in Canberra and especially to provide necessary support so that students succeed. He said that besides strengthening bilateral relationship and cooperation with the host countries, Australia and New Zealand, he is passionate about protecting and serving the interests of Cambodian citizens, including those of the students, abroad.
Mr. Kongkea Chhoeun, president of the Cambodian Student Association in Canberra, thanked H.E. Koy Kuong for the opportunity to share the students’ thoughts and concerns and expressed his joy with the ambassador’s remarks. He said, “We hope that H.E. Mr. Ambassador continues to engage with and support us so that we all succeed and become the productive resources for the country, Cambodia.”
In a cordial and relaxed atmosphere, H.E. Mr. Ambassador, his officials and students exchanged perspectives on relevant political and economic affairs and had lunch together before concluding the visit.
Cambodian Student Association in Canberra represents Cambodian students from the Australian National University, the University of New South Wales, Charles Stuart University and the University of Canberra in Canberra.
