Cambodian Students Honored
H.E. Koy Kuong, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Australia and New Zealand, honored Cambodian students at a Welcoming and Farewell Party on 18 July 2015.
“I was an alumnus at the ANU 12 years ago. And I know how one felt as an international student in Canberra. Loneliness! I wish to remind you that you will be no longer lonely. The Royal Government of Cambodia, with me as its representative, will take care of you,” H.E. Koy Kuong said.
Mr. Kongkea Chhoeun, the president of the Cambodian Student Association in Canberra, said, “We are honored with the presence of H.E. Mr. Ambassador. This is first time that we received such great honor.”
“I hope that you will use whatever you learned in here for the betterment of your home country,” said Mr. Darin Men, a representative from Cambodian community in Canberra.
Presented at the party were three new students, namely Ms. Vika Vith, Mr. Bora Heng and Mr. Sophorn Ngy, who will begin their study at the Australian National University in late July; three students, including Mr. Kimly Ngoun, Mr. Samruol Im, and Mr. Somalux Ek, who are returning to their home country, Cambodia. Officials at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia and friends from the Cambodian community in Canberra also came to welcome and say goodbye to the students.
